Our latest 4.8½ tires designed for 559mm (“26inch”) super wide rims such as our 100mm Clown Shoes, Bud and Lou are, to quote one of our designers, “designed as a front and rear pair.” Exciting stuff. He goes on to say, “They are meant to be the wildest, gnarliest, oh my god my face is bleeding tires available. The footprint is massive (larger than Big Fat Larry) and the tread is aggressive. This combination is going to keep you moving in the most demanding soft conditions any bicycle will attempt. You could say these tires are 4.8½ Nates, but they are so much more than that.” For example, their tread height is a staggering 7mm (6mm on Nates, 4.2mm on Larrys). MWOD = Mr. Whirly Offset Double. These chainrings convert your Mr. Whirly crankset into an offset mountain double crank, allowing you to run extra wide rear tire and rim combinations (4.7" tires on 100mm rims, for example, or 82mm rims on your Pugsley) while avoiding chain-on-tire rub.

Smaller rings are stainless steel; bigger rings are aluminum. Granny and middle rings are repositioned to the outer two spots on the crank. This increases tire clearance at the chain without increasing Q-Factor or sacrificing the essential lower gears. 

 The two rings are bolted to each other; the combo then bolts directly to the 58mm bolt circle on Mr. Whirly cranks (hardware included).

Rolling Darryl is a whopping 82mm wide welded seam single wall rim with an unusual 64 hole dual spoke hole pattern. Lace 32 holes asymmetrically for use with Pugsley and other offset frames. Lace 32-holes symmetrically for use with non-offset frames. Single wall construction and cutaway sections keep its weight respectable, even lower than Large Marge. Rolling Darryl is pretty specifically a snow and sand rim, where the ‘snowshoe effect’ of staying on top of the terrain is key and overbuilt durability is secondary.

Wednesday is a frame with a decade of Omniterra design experience distilled into one steel package. Wednesday can ride over the same type of pretty much anything all of our other Omniterra bikes can and for the Wednesday, we borrowed elements from both our Trail and Touring categories to create an Omniterra ride that can truly handle anything you want to attempt. Want to point the thing down a mountain and roll those dice? Wednesday has geometry spry enough to get you through the techy stuff, stable enough for the fast stuff and doesn’t feel sluggish when you have to ride back to the top.

While Wednesday is plenty confident on terrifying terrain, it also has the chops for any sort of expedition you may want to undertake. We gave it plenty of bottle mounts; triple bottle bosses on both fork legs and the down tube, standard bottle mounts on the seat tube and underside of the down tube plus rack mounts on the frame and fork with fender eyelets on the dropouts, along with barrel bosses on the crown, fork legs and mid-blade, thru-blade eyelets on the fork as well. It also has internal dropper post routing and Surly Trip Guides to manage all the housing and cables on your frame with style. No rat’s nest here. It’s a lot to take in so read that again and you’ll understand, it’s just plain ready for action. We gave Wednesday its very own dropout design as well – a rear-facing, slotted dropout that can use either 10mm or 12mm axles and exit rearward or vertically. They’re cast steel and spaced at 170/177mm.

Wednesday is made out of our own proprietary 4130 CroMoly steel and is ED coated. ED coating is a process that leaves a coating that, externally, provides a solid foundation for paint while also providing an added layer of corrosion protection internally. However, we still recommend an additional treatment such as Frame Saver or Boeshield.
